Why Every Knot Today Bag Is One of a Kind

Why Every Knot Today Bag Is One of a Kind

Here's something most people don't know about my bags: before they were bags, they were something else. Old shirts. Fabric offcuts. Textiles that had already done their first job and were headed for the bin.

I don't buy yarn off a shelf. I make it.

I cut. I join. I crochet. Repeat.

Every Knot Today bag starts with fabric I've rescued — mostly cotton and blends that are still strong, just no longer wanted. I cut that fabric into strips, join the strips together, and crochet them into something new. It's slow, a little fiddly, and deeply satisfying.

That's the thing about making your own yarn: you never know exactly what you'll get. A Carmen might come out with a stripe I didn't plan. A Cora might catch the light differently than the one I made last week. That's not a flaw. It's the whole point.

No two bags are ever the same

Because the materials are always different, the bags are always different. The Lulu you buy today won't be identical to the Lulu I sold last month. Same shape, same care, same hands — but its own colours, its own texture, its own story.

You're not buying a product off a rack. You're buying a one-off.

Made to be carried, not collected

I didn't start Knot Today to make things that sit on a shelf. I make bags that do a job — your phone, wallet, keys, a book, whatever the day throws at you. They're crocheted tight, they hold their shape, and they get softer the more you use them.

A little less landfill, one stitch at a time

The fashion industry makes too much and throws away even more. Crocheting from upcycled fabric is my small way of pushing back. Every bag is fabric that didn't end up in the bin, given a second life as something you'll actually use.

The whole family is on the site — the Carmen handbag, the Cora, the Lulu shoulder bag, laptop and tablet sleeves, the little Trini purse, and the Perla AirPods case. Every one hand-crocheted, every one one of a kind.

Shop the collection at knottoday.co — and tag @knottoday.au when yours arrives. I love seeing where they land.
